You are invited to help shape the future of Thurstable School
We are planning for the long term, and we need to know what kind of school you want for your children today, and for your grandchildren tomorrow.
The Socrates Tree is an online survey that encourages you to think about what schools of the future could be like, and allows you to tell us what you think our school should be like. You can complete the survey in 10 minutes, or you can leave as many detailed comments as you like. and guide our planning even more.
The survey is open now, and closes on the 2nd April.
Please make sure you complete it, and make your voice heard.

Kilimanjaro Fundraising Climb
Hello Thurstable School,
I would really appreciate it if you could sponsor my Kilimanjaro fundraising climb.
I'm climbing Mount Kilimanjaro this summer, for charity. It's the tallest freestanding mountain in the world and I'm going to be dragging myself up it to raise money for The AMECA Trust! They provide much needed medical support to some of the poorest countries in Africa and all your money will be going towards building a two-storey day surgical unit in Malawi. I would really appreciate all your help and donations, and 100% of your money goes straight to the charity.
Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charities behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
Once again thanks so much for all your support, cause if you know me at all, you know that i'm the least likely person to go hiking, especially up a 19,340 ft mountain! All your donations will encourage me to get myself up there!
I've have set up a website http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/priyamistry

Swine Flu - Latest
The latest guidance for schools on swine flu is as follows:
Staff or students who have significant symptoms should stay at home, take advice from NHS direct, and return to school when they are feeling better. Confirmed cases of swine flu should be reported to the school, who will update the Local Authority.
There is no need for anyone without symptoms to be off school.
The school will remain open unless the number of staff unable to work reaches a level where the school cannot safely open. In this case we will look first at partial closure for some year groups only.
